A windy day and small moments of calm

My nephew has always been a football guy because of his hilarious football guy family.

I’m at the park watching him practice with his team, sitting not too far away. There’s a playground next to the patch of grass where the Browns are running plays and there are other football and some baseball teams practicing here as well. My Sheri is walking our woofs around the park and those two are being The Worst™️ and having an excellent time doing it.

The sky is all gray and the wind’s chill is getting colder. There are parents running out of their cars with sweaters or light jackets for their babies at practice or on the playground.

Rain is in the air but not the forecast. I can smell it in the crisp cold and I can see it in the new grass peaking out through the shelter of last year’s cover and I can feel it in the warm red glow on my nephews cheeks after he runs to the me then the car when practice ends. Even though it’s an uncomfortable cold windy day and his hands have a cold red glow he just had a great time. And so did Sheri. And so did I.
